Who We Are

Sometimes an idea begins with a very simple desire: to rediscover something one misses.

Why We Started

The taste we knew from Greece was not to be found in Germany.

We wanted to be able to enjoy the taste of Greece that we know and love from our home country, even in Germany. However, many of the products that are an integral part of our lives were difficult to find here – or simply didn't taste the way we knew them from Greece.

From this desire, Home of Greece was born: a place for authentic Greek specialties, selected products, and the true taste of Greece.

Because for us, Greek enjoyment is more than just good food. It evokes memories of family, shared moments, sun, sea, and the special way of life in Greece.

Where We Come From

An idea became Home of Greece.

Home of Greece belongs to the Theodosiadis family. Our story begins with Greek roots and a strong connection to the country, which for us is much more than just a holiday destination.

Owner Jiannis Theodosiadis, born in 1969 in Lichtenstein, Baden-Württemberg, grew up in Germany – and is Greek through and through. Even as a child, he taught himself to play the Pontic lyra. For more than three decades, he taught Greek dance in Germany and Switzerland. Not just for the joy of dancing, but also out of a desire to pass on Greek culture and traditions to the next generation.

Today, we consciously work with selected family businesses in Greece. Our olive oil comes from MELAS in Epidaurus on the Peloponnese, where it is pressed with great care. Our cookies and cereals are produced by Violanta in Trikala.

We select our partners ourselves and ensure that they work responsibly and sustainably. For us, not only the quality of the products is important, but also the personal and familial interaction with each other.

Both family businesses deliver directly to us. We store the products in Germany and ship them from here – this way, we can bring your favorite products from Greece to your home quickly and reliably.

OPA ELLADA!

"Ellada" means Greece. "Opa!" on the other hand, cannot be translated so easily. It is an expression of joy, enthusiasm, and shared moments. It fits equally well with accidentally burned food as with an enthusiastic "Bravo!" for a dancer.

For us, "OPA ELLADA!" therefore means one thing above all: a toast to Greece. To the people who preserve traditions. To the families who passionately produce their products. To good food, shared hours, and all the small moments that feel like Greece.
